Tiyam Hamady

Remains

Tiyam Hamady is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate of the University of Haifa’s Fine Arts Department. Working mainly in painting and sculpture, she blends personal experience with a critical view of surrounding culture. She is drawn to the moment “after”—after the feast, after celebration, after what should have been perfect. Moments when beauty crumbles and truth emerges through cracks. Her acrylic paintings reference vanitas traditions in a contemporary context, appearing attractive yet hiding secrets that shatter illusions. In sculpture, she creates figures resembling sweets that reveal flaws or intentional deformities. Using everyday materials like cardboard, plaster, and wall putty, she explores the tension between beauty and decay, reality and imagination. Her works arise from personal memories or respond to society’s imposed images and expectations. Hamadeh’s visual language invites viewers to pause, observe, and decode, going beyond initial impressions to contemplate what has decomposed, what remains, and what it reveals about us.
