The preoccupation and obsession with body image are constantly increasing, hurting everyone.
Society decides what "ideal beauty" is, ignoring entire groups, such as those born with a hereditary physical disability, disease, or chronic pain.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 14. scoliosis is when the spine grows deformed like an "S" shape. As part of the treatment, I had to wear a back belt made of metal for years.
My project aims to raise awareness of scoliosis and to express the legitimacy of every body shape and every person.
The designs in my collection are distorted and deconstructed. Some designs "choke" the body, and some are more flexible.
I used printed fabrics, quilts, and irons from the back belt
