Excessive consumption and the desire to stand out are not new issues. Class gaps appeared when human beings began to consume: the rich consumed more than the poor. Collars from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries in European royal courts show the same need and obsession to prove their social status. The collar size became an indication of social and economic status, its size denoting the position of the wearer. Today, the constant consumption, wardrobes full, and the huge amount of clothes we buy to wear once and post on Instagram express the same obsession. I use collars in my work to express the desire for distinction, the obsession with being unique, and the search for the next extravagant
