The project focuses on revitalizing the "Kiryat HaMelacha" area in Tel Aviv, transforming it from a closed industrial zone into a vibrant community neighborhood. The concept is based on preserving the existing industrial buildings while adding community housing (מגורים קהילתיים) in new layers above them, including communal living spaces, family housing, and shared areas. The goal is to strike a balance between the past and the present: maintaining the historical character and local architectural language, while introducing modern elements such as green roofs, communal courtyards, and public spaces that connect residents. The project aims to foster a sense of belonging and a “feeling of home,” both inside and outside, through active streets, connections to nearby gardens, and designs that integrate private and public spaces in a way that encourages social interaction and community engagement.
