Usually, the house symbolizes safety, stability, and family, but in my narrative, it reflects a different meaning. Through photography, I attempt to explore my mother Nidaa's story, after her marriage and her move from Jerusalem to the besieged Gaza, a move that led her to constantly relocate from one city to another in search of a compromise that would politically allow both sides to meet, so she could have a normal family life. She lived in 22 houses, each in a different city. This situation raised many questions within me about what the concept of 'home' meant to her and to us, as children who never had a permanent, stable geographical home. This prompted me to return and explore, documenting some of these houses or what remains of them, attempting to reconstruct scenes from my mother's memory with a different perspective in some of the photographic scenes.
