Spirit in the Void

This art project represents a visual and sensory journey inspired by the search for the spirit through the body, drawing from Sufi thought and its philosophy of inner purification. The work transforms movement, imagery, and lines into an expressive language that transcends the physical form of the body to reveal its spiritual essence. The concept is inspired by Sufi rituals, particularly the whirling as a purifying act that connects the individual to the self and the Absolute. The experience is documented through photographs taken during physical performance, then translated into paintings and linear drawings characterized by spontaneity and repetition, reflecting the visual rhythm of continuous movement. The work is not limited to painting alone; it integrates movement performance with visual art to create a sensory interaction between the viewer and the body as a medium of art and spirit. The body is approached as a tool for expression and a space where feeling, memory, and inner exploration intersect, rather than as an end in itself. The project invites the audience to reflect on their relationship with their own bodies, seeing them as an extension of the spirit rather than mere visible forms. It is the result of both practical and theoretical research, combining the study of Sufi texts, the practice of inspired movements, and intensive visual documentation to embody the living moment and what remains fixed on the canvas.
