My dad, Nayif
The Golan was occupied by the Israelis on June 10, 1967. A ceasefire line was installed, and fields of mines were planted on both sides of the border shortly.
My dad was five years old when the war took place. The war is still alive in his memory and flesh.
My dad left school when he was eight years old because he had to help support his family. He was made responsible for the sheep and grew up an analphabetic.
When my dad was 14, a goat stomped on a landmine and exploded in front of my father and uncle. Both kids were injured: my dad lost his finger and his sight for a year, and my uncle, who was ten years old, still suffers from his wounds to this day.
Despite the hardship my dad experienced, he now runs a kiosk by the local school. He works with children every day and ensures no child suffers from hunger or pain.
This project is dedicated to my dad.
