Belonging to a place

My artworks revolve around the suffering of two types of traumas in my life. The first one is the 1948 war and my grandfather’s struggle; the second trauma is my health conditions and illnesses. Moreover, the work I produce also revolves around how these two traumas have been affecting my daily life, including my mental and psychological statuses and my views on and perceptions of life. All the mentioned above are reflected in the use of my family’s archive, which is primarily photographs of my grandfather and the family in Ein Karem. The latter also includes my grandfather’s written notes behind each picture that he wrote to capture and document the moment and context in which the photo was taken and its location. I edit those photographs by utilizing different tools on Adobe Photoshop to erase and blur the pictures partially or entirely and omit people and objects present in them. At other times, I use additional tools that include but are not limited to cropping and selection.
