The body as the material of the earth — what does the body remember from the earth? What part of the earth remains within the body? My body finds its anchor in the earth when the environment is not stable. In purifying rituals, I immerse my body in a mud bath, anoint, cleanse, and re-establish complete connection between the materials — between myself and the earth. Photography: Rowan Julani
