Images and Scents from the Past
In my work, I seek to design and produce family souvenirs that will present the values, feelings, images, and aromas that I was immersed in my grandparents' home. In this house, I have lots of memories that inspired my work; I remember the warm family gatherings. Each corner of the house has a special story; of games we played, food we shared, and good night's sleep. All have great emotional importance to me- This house was the place where my family first settled, originally being bedouin. This house does not exist today but it does in my memory. Recently I started a family- I got married and had a child. For my child and my new family, I want to create a series of jewelry that traces my longings and belonging - and will pass them on. I used the clove; a strong scent I remember from my grandparent’s home, as inspiration and material from which I built the series itself.
Materials: clove, brass, wax
Working techniques: casting, welding, inlay
