The Old Peasant
Analog photography
I was very attached to my grandmother when I was a child. But then she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and was put in a home. Seeing her far from us, deprived of the respect she deserves, was hurtful. She faded away in the nursing home until she died. I never photographed her, but I have been looking for her since then in the faces of the elderly, trying to fill her absence with pictures.
I photograph elderly members of the Druze community in their natural environment, the land they cultivate as a way of life. The land is significant and valuable for the Druze community. photografing the elderly gives them the respect they deserve.
